It’s all in the mind

Just how willing are we to adjust our mindset towards sustainability to cut both our cloud spend and, more importantly, carbon emissions?

If you’re still of the mindset that every SAP system must be left running 24x7 regardless of use, or sized today for a perceived workload that's three years away, then your cloud spend and its associated carbon footprint will be higher than it ought to be. However, if you’re open to change based on only delivering services when they're actually needed, then your cost and carbon savings could be substantial.

In the words of the UN SSC, "Digital transformation doesn’t stop with technology. It is also a cultural and mindset change that shapes our thoughts, actions and behaviours and requires us to continually challenge the status quo, experiment more and innovate. This sometimes means walking away from long-established processes in favour of relatively new practices that are still being refined."
